A Little About
ME
For most of my life I rarely thought about or entertained the idea of somatic healing modalities. It was never something that was discussed or practiced growing up. At most, I had some experience with yoga and attempts at meditating a few times over my lifetime. In middle school and high school I struggled with anxiety, self-harming and depression. I was put on medication that I took for a while, which did help, but I never was shown tools to treat the root cause.
After getting married, we had our first baby really fast and when I got pregnant with our second shortly after, the emotional stress and physical tolls made it become very apparent that I didn’t have adequate tools to deal with the emotion and stress I was going through. I was easily triggered emotionally, and I often felt depressed and hopeless.
After having our second baby and going through the motions of having a newborn, my husband encouraged me to give breathwork a try. He had been practicing it for a few years and while I was always skeptical, I finally agreed to try it. We went and did a facilitated breathwork session together and I was absolutely floored by how amazing of an experience I had. I had memories come back from my childhood that I had forgotten, I was introduced to the idea of somatic awareness, and most importantly, I had the strongest impression come to me saying “I need to learn how to do this for other people”. I took the first chance I could to begin my certification in breathwork and studied what I could find about trauma and healing.
Since then I’ve become so drawn to helping others and teaching people how trauma (big or small) shows up in the body and how to move through it with the breath. I’ve had so much growth in building awareness of my mind, body, and spirit and how they’re intertwined. And most of all, I feel like I am able to live my life more authentic and fully!
